Classic & collector transport

Classic and Collector Car Transport

Enclosed transport for classic, collector, antique, luxury and exotic vehicles. The risk with a collector car is not the highway — it is the wrong trailer, the wrong straps, or a cargo policy that does not reach the car's value.

Why collector vehicles need different handling

A modern car that takes a stone chip gets a touch-up. An original-paint collector car that takes a stone chip loses originality that cannot be restored. That asymmetry is why enclosed transport, documented tie-down points and verified coverage limits stop being optional at a certain value.

Choosing the right level of protection

Not every collector vehicle needs the same service. The deciding question is simple: would road exposure on this car cost more than the premium to avoid it? For most of what we move, the answer is yes.

Matching transport level to vehicleQuoted per shipment against the specific unit. Not an offer.
VehicleRecommendedWhy
Driver-quality classic Enclosed Original paint is the value; exposure is the risk.
Concours or numbers-matching Enclosed with liftgate Loading angle matters as much as cover.
Exotic, low clearance Enclosed with liftgate Standard ramps scrape front splitters.
Late-model luxury Enclosed Protects finish and keeps the car out of public view.
Non-running restoration project Enclosed with winch Declare rolls, steers and brakes separately.
Auction purchase Enclosed, booked before the sale closes Lot storage fees start almost immediately.

Every collector shipment is quoted against the specific vehicle, its ground clearance, its running condition and its declared value. Coverage limits are confirmed in writing before booking, not after.

Three things to settle before the truck arrives

Most collector car damage traces to decisions made before loading rather than to anything that happened on the road.

Declared value and coverage limit

Cargo insurance carries a stated limit written for ordinary vehicles. A collector car can exceed it. Ask for the coverage figure in writing and compare it against a current valuation, not what you paid.

Tie-down points, specified by you

Classics frequently lack standardised strap locations. Identify the correct frame or suspension points, photograph them, and state explicitly what must not be used — bumpers, trim and brightwork are not strap points.

Ground clearance and loading angle

Low vehicles are damaged on the ramp, not the highway. Give the clearance and front overhang at booking and confirm whether a liftgate or low-angle ramps are coming.

Classic car transport FAQ

How much does classic car transport cost?
It is quoted per vehicle rather than from a flat table, because enclosed equipment, liftgate requirements and declared value all affect the rate. Distance remains the largest single input.
Should I always use enclosed transport for a classic?
For most collector vehicles, yes. Enclosed removes road debris and weather exposure and keeps the car out of public view. The premium is small relative to repainting a panel on an original car.
Will standard cargo insurance cover my car's value?
Not necessarily. Cargo coverage carries a stated limit written for ordinary vehicles, and a collector car can exceed it. Confirm the figure in writing before booking and ask what supplemental coverage is available.
Can you transport a non-running restoration project?
Yes, with winch-equipped enclosed carriers. Tell us separately whether it rolls, steers and brakes, because those three answers determine the equipment required.
Do you handle auction purchases?
Yes. Auction lots charge storage from close to the sale date and release only against specific paperwork, so booking before the sale closes is the difference between a clean pickup and fees.
Who supervises loading?
Be present if you can. Ten minutes watching the tie-down process is worth more than any conversation afterwards, and you can correct a strap placement before it becomes damage.
